RedMagic 10 Pro Plus Launches to Applause—A 7050mAh Battery Makes a Debut
We’re all typically enthralled by everything the popular smartphone brands like Apple and Samsung get up to, but the more inconspicuous companies also offer pretty groundbreaking devices. After Huawei’s tri-fold marvel, we now have the RedMagic 10 Pro Plus launching in China, with its massive 7,050mAh silicon-nitride battery with 120W charging.
The RedMagic 10 Pro Plus specs are impressive, to say the least, and from everything we’ve heard, it appears to be a gamer’s dream. With an advanced Snapdragon chipset, a sizable display, and impressive storage, the smartphone could certainly allow you to play your favorite games for hours.
The RedMagic gaming phone is being released in China for now, but the global launch of the non-Plus version is not too far away.
RedMagic 10 Pro Plus Launches to Applause—Who Wouldn’t Love a 7050mAh Battery
Nubia just launched the RedMagic 10 Pro and RedMagic 10 Pro Plus in China. Its predecessor, the RedMagic 9 Pro was impressive in its own right, but Nubia’s latest devices have raised the stakes even further.
Right from its appearance, the smartphone appears quite interesting. It has rounded edges but is still quite a bit more sharp-edged and boxy than many other smartphones on the market. The back of the smartphone has some interesting design elements that remind us of the original Nothing Phone, but in no way is it an imitation. The “X” on the back must stand for “10,” but it looks too much like the Twitter/X symbol for our liking.
It features a simple, minimalist design and the lack of any cutouts on the display screen adds to its clean aesthetic. You can still take selfies as it has a 16MP supported by under-screen camera technology, so you don’t have to worry about losing out on the basic smartphone feature.
What’s more, the device still has a 3.5mm audio jack for those who want the option of using wired earphones. It’s simple considerations like these that often seal the deal for us.
RedMagic 10 Pro Plus Specs—The Phone Promises to Stay Cool as a Cucumber
Diving into the RedMagic 10 Pro Plus specs, the first detail of note is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC that powers the smartphone. This industry-leading chip is supported by a Red Core R3 gaming chip designed by RedMagic for 2K, 120fps super-resolution, and super-frame concurrency.
If you need further proof that RedMagic has designed a gaming phone, it also features the new “Hot Wheels” high-speed centrifugal fan that spins at 23,000 rpm for advanced internal cooling. Paired with the liquid metal cooling technology that showcases a thermal conductivity rate 13 times higher than that of thermal conductive gel, the device is designed to support your lengthy gaming sessions without breaking a sweat.
The dual X-axis linear motors are designed to provide haptic feedback efficiently for all in-game activity, and you can also make the most of the two 520Hz shoulder buttons to better control your gaming experience.
The RedMagic 10 Pro Plus Display Doesn’t Plan to Let You Down
The device has a 6.85-inch AMOLED screen that shows off its 216×2688 resolution. The 144 Hz refresh rate and 960 Hz touch sampling rate paired together guarantee that you won’t miss a moment of your game.
The RedMagic 10 Pro Plus display can manage 2,000 nits peak brightness and while this isn’t groundbreaking, it’s not a bad deal in the slightest. There is support for DC dimming and 2,592Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, so it is extremely adaptable and designed to last long hours.
Nubia RedMagic 10 Pro Plus Camera Setup
The hidden 16MP under-display selfie camera is a very thoughtful addition to the RedMagic gaming phone. Along with this, the rear triple-camera setup is also quite noteworthy. We have a 50MP OmniVision OV50E40 sensor with f/1.88 aperture, a 50MP 120-degree OmniVision OV50D ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a third 2MP macro OmniVision OV02F10 camera.
Apart from serving its purpose for gaming, the RedMagic smartphone is designed to meet your other daily needs as well.
The RedMagic10 Pro Plus’ Battery is the Real Show Stealer
Most smartphone makers choose to make a sharp difference in the quality of the lower and higher-priced models, but the specs of the two smartphones in Nubia’s RedMagic 10 Pro series only differ in terms of the battery. It is also worth noting that even the lower-priced model has an impressive battery capacity, so you won’t be disappointed by the RedMagic 10 Pro either.
The RedMagic10 Pro Plus sports a 7050mAh silicon-carbon battery that is capable of 120W fast charging. On the other hand, the RedMagic10 Pro has a 6500mAh battery, which is still a good addition, and it has 80W fast charging capabilities.
Sealing the Deal with the RedMagic10 Pro Plus Pricing Strategy
The two devices in the RedMagic 10 series are priced differently of course, but there are also variations in the price depending on which color and finish you opt for.
RedMagic 10 Pro Plus Variant | RAM/Storage | Pricing |
Dark Knight/Day Warrior | 16GB/512 GB | ¥5,999 (approximately $829) |
Dark Knight | 24GB/1TB | ¥7,499 ($1,038) |
Deuterium Front Transparent Dark Night/Silver Wing | 16GB/512 GB | ¥6,299 ($870) |
RedMagic 10 Golden Saga Limited Edition | 24GB/1TB | ¥9,499 ($1,312) |
The RedMagic 10 Pro Dark Knight variant with 12GB/256GB storage starts at ¥4,999 ($691), and depending on the finish and storage preference, the price goes up.
With the RedMagic 10 Pro Plus’ launch announcement, it was revealed that the device is available for pre-orders and will begin shipping on November 18, 2024. Online sources suggest the RedMagic 10 Pro, not the Plus variant, will become available globally on December 3.
So if the RedMagic gaming phone has caught your eye, there isn’t too long of a wait until you can place your own order. The RedMagic 10 Pro appears just as efficient as its more expensive compatriot, although its battery is not as impressive.
